MYCamp 2021 COVID Policies & Procedures - June 20, 2021

MYCamp 2021 - COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

-We will be doing temperature checks in the morning as campers arrive. If campers have any symptoms related to COVID, we ask that they stay home and rest.  Any person participating in camp activities who experiences COVID-19 symptoms should get a COVID-19 test before returning.

-As of July 6, 2021, mask wearing will be optional.

-Campers will be organized into cohorts by grade with the same 2 counselors each week. There will be 8 campers at max in each cohort.

-Campers in each cohort will be placed 3 feet apart. Different cohorts will be placed 6 feet apart.

-For community related activities, we have plenty of spacing in the gym with the doors open to accommodate everyone. This would include the talent show, movies (rainy days), and pick-up / drop-off times.

-We are cleaning in-between activities to ensure camper and staff safety. Disinfectant is used on all table surfaces.  Hand sanitizers are stationed around MYC in both liquid and foam dispensers.

-The bathrooms are sanitized at 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and at the end of camp for the day.  Bathrooms are also sanitized in-between the times listed as well during activities. The facility is professionally cleaned twice per week.

-Campers are asked to wash their hands when moving from activity to activity, as well before and after snack and lunch.  Counselors organize campers in their designated groups to take them to and from the bathroom.

-Weather permitting, we will be eating snacks & lunch outside in tents. In the event of rain or excessive heat, groups will eat inside at their cohort-designated area for snack and lunch.

General Policy: Dec. 19, 2020

Statement from the Media Youth Center Board of Directors regarding COVID-19

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise across the nation, the Media Youth Center (MYC) is committed to the health and safety of everyone in our community. Due to Governor Wolf’s recent temporary COVID-19 protective mitigation measure, MYC is closed. However, our plan is to reopen in early January once the Governor’s orders are lifted to kick off the 2021 Winter Basketball season.

Of course, this year’s season will be different than past years as we will be implementing a variety of safety measures to help keep our players, coaches, refs, parents and staff safe and healthy. Our current COVID-19 Safety Policy can be found here.

Please keep in mind that this document will remain as fluid as the current situation. The MYC Board of Directors reserves the right to update the document as new information from local, state and national authorities is made available. We are monitoring the situation daily. If there are any significant changes to our policy, we will notify you by email, social media and our website.

Please note the following important items regarding the start of the season:

·      Grades 1 – 4 and 9 – 11. There will be no evaluations for these age groups. Parents, players and coaches will be notified of their teams during the first week of January.

·      Evaluations  will be scheduled for grades 5 – 8  (please see evaluations page)

·      The aim for each team is to play a total of 10 games, which is the same amount as in previous years.

Additionally, please take the time to read our Policy. A few highlights include:

·      Anyone who enters the MYC building must wear a mask at all times, including players, coaches, refs and spectators.

·      Effective Monday, February 15th, MYC will permit one parent/guardian (must be 16 years of age or older) per player to watch their player's games live in our gym.  Parent/guardians will be subject to the same Covid rules as the players which currently include touch free temperature check upon entry to the gym, answering a few Covid related questions, social distancing inside the gym, designated seating area and wearing a mask at all times while in the gym.

·      MYC staff will sanitize all areas of the gym following each practice and game. No one will be allowed in the gym during this time except for MYC staff.

·      We will be implementing a pick-up/drop-off protocol where there will be one way into the gym and another way out of the gym. Details will be emailed to parents and coaches closer to the start of the season.

The MYC Board of Directors and Staff thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we get through this very unusual time. We are very eager to get this season started and get the kids back on the court.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or 610-566-5877.

Thanks,

The MYC Board of Directors
