Robotics

Robotics programs provide opportunities for children to work together using technology.

2022 Fall / Winter Season
First meetings for each team will be the week of September 12th.

Volunteers are needed as Team Mentors for our upcoming season. Please email [email protected] if interested.

About MYC's Robotics Program:
The FIRST Lego Program is the travel team of the mind. While participating in the First Lego League, kids will discover the fun of science and technology by working together in teams to investigate existing real world problems that surround the themed challenge. Participants research and offer solutions by designing, building, and programming autonomous robots using Lego Models. Team members have the opportunity to take field trips and speak with industry scientists, subject matter specialists, CEOs, and doctorates to investigate how the world around us works, and they will compete locally against other teams.
  • Junior First Lego League - ages 5-9yo (JrFLL) 6 members per team, at least one Mentor - $110
  • First Lego League - ages 9–13yo (FLL) 8 members per team, at least two Mentors - $145
  • First Tech Challenge - ages 14–18yo (FTC) 10+ members per team, at least one Mentor - $180

Payment Due: Full payment is due for accepted team members no later than Sept 12.

*Note: Our teams are in need of Lead Mentor & Assistant Mentor volunteers. Please contact [email protected] for questions. Lead Mentors will receive support but will be in charge of coordinating their team. No experience is necessary!

Teams will start meeting the week of September 12th and will meet through December or their last scheduled competition (older teams usually continue in to Jan/Feb). Each team meets for one session per week for approximately 1.5-2 hours. Teams may schedule additional time to prep for competitions.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU REGISTER -- IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTICE:  Registration is open to the public; however, participants of MYC's robotics programs from the prior season are given priority in placement on teams. Remaining, open spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve registration basis. We do have a wait list activated. You should choose the wait list if given the option in order to maintain your spot "in line" for registration.

NEW PARTICIPANTS -- prior to the start of the season you will receive a confirmation email to let you know if we can add you to the team of your choice. If the team you choose at registration is full with returning members, we will offer you to be transferred to a different team, if space is available.

Anyone interested in starting a new team to add to our program should contact [email protected] .
